Should Commercial Aircrews Be Subject To Routine Airport Security Screening?
[ send me this report ]
10 pages in length. No less suspicious than anyone else who boards an airplane, commercial aircrews should be subject to routine airport security screening. That disputable evidence has found members of Al Quaida infiltrating the United States by way of obtaining American pilot's licenses speaks to the need for each and every person, no matter their status or tenure with a particular airline, to go through the same security procedures as the passengers do. Moreover, there is no way to be sure someone has not breached all other security efforts and penetrated America's safety zone, a point that is made quite clear when one considers the events of September 11th, 2001. Bibliography lists 10 sources.

Should Emirates Airlines Add a Dedicated Premium Economy Class?
[ send me this report ]
A 10 page paper assessing the state of business class air travel in 2004. After dramatic decline during the early years of the new century, business travel appears to be recovering. Most airlines focused on the higher-profit business customer prior to 2000, but certainly not in the manner they are courting him in today’s market. Several airlines, including Emirates Airlines, have made changes specifically targeting the business traveler, but airlines such as SAS and KLM have eliminated the business classes they offered in the past. The purpose here is to assess the changes that have occurred in several of the world’s airlines to explore the viability of Emirates Airlines adding a distinctly separate “premium economy” class. Bibliography lists 10 sources.

Southwest Airlines / Selection Of Pilots
[ send me this report ]
A 15 page paper discussing the selection of pilots at Southwest Airlines. Finding a job is never an easy task for a commercial pilot. Not only does Southwest not make the process any easier, they also have the added requirements of a sense of humor and the proper attitude in order to be considered for selection for their company. Southwest has the highest percentage of female pilots of any airline in the country, but still have only a few in comparison to the total number of pilots they employ. The corporate culture of have fun and work hard applies to all areas of the company, including the pilot faction, and those prospective pilots unwilling to serve as substitute baggage handler on occasion most likely will not even make the first cut. Currently, Southwest retains its competitive advantage in "place," but it is experiencing increasing difficulty as it competes against the legacy carriers that with bankruptcy protection have made deep cost cuts and have secured impressive concessions from labor unions. The result for Southwest is that its costs are much higher than its competitors. Though it still leads its industry in all respects, those competitors are closing the gap.
