Adult-Onset Schizophrenia
[ send me this report ]
A 9 page literature review. Schizophrenia has been extensively researched over the years, but in many ways it remains an enigma. The overwhelming majority of cases occur in young adults, but some cases do not develop until much later in life. The purpose here is to review the literature addressing factors associated with adult-onset schizophrenia. The paper concludes that though much more information is available on adult-onset schizophrenia now than was available in the past, real determinations that can be widely generalized still have yet to be discovered. Bibliography lists 10 sources.

Advertising According to Erikson (2)
[ send me this report ]
A 4 page paper reviewing three articles of studies featuring Erik Erikson's theory of psychosocial development in the individual. Even though Erikson did not formulate his theory on the basis of scientific investigation, those coming after him with a desire to establish an empirical basis for either accepting or rejecting Erikson's theory of psychosocial development find that Erikson's theory stands quite well and bears scrutiny when subjected to empirical methods. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

The paper discusses the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator; desirability of a degree of aggression in business; teen violence and intervention; and a review of personality literature. Includes an outline. Bibliography lists 20 sources.

Aging and Cognitive Development: Maintaining Mental Agility
[ send me this report ]
A 6 page discussion of the relationship between cognitive function and age. In the past a consensus has existed in the scientific community that declines in cognitive function is an irreversible impact of age, that mental frailty is an inevitable part of late adulthood. Today, however, developmentalists seem to be altering this attitude to one which recognizes that an individual’s participation in certain activities can have a positive impact on the retention of mental agility. Bibliography lists 11 sources.

Albert Ellis' ABC Model of Rational-Emotive Theory
[ send me this report ]
This 12 page paper provides an overview of this issue. Alfred Ellis considered the value of defining links between the philosophical and the therapeutic through an understanding of what he described as "rational-emotive theory." Ellis recognized the value of applying some substantial philosophical perspectives to an understanding of man's central perceptions in the world, and to the development of spiritual, social and contextual elements of the persona. In other words, the rational-emotive theory of Ellis recognized that man is more than just a responsive being controlled by reactions to stimulus; man is shaped by social factors and by variations in perception relative to both rational perspectives and emotional responses. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Alcohol’s Effect on Personality
[ send me this report ]
A 6 page paper discussing the relation of alcohol and personality from several perspectives. Research indicates that more aggressive types are more likely to drink to excess; other researchers point to alcohol-induced interruption of brain activity as likely being cumulative and lasting, long after alcohol has left the drinker’s system. Still others address the effects of personality on the likelihood of success in alcohol treatment. It seems reasonable to say that personality affects individuals’ reactions to alcohol and even whether individuals drink at all. Though there has been a great deal of research into the relationship between alcohol and personality, the best information to date still seems to be anecdotal evidence. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
